65 dearborn door latch and striker
« on: February 21, 2015, 06:40:38 PM »
Can someone please confirm the original finish for the door latch? My originals dont look like some NOS ones Ive seen - NOS all look 100% gold finish, where mine looks like gold accents only.

Also - What is correct trunk striker and latch finish?

Thank you

Door latches: I have seen gold and have also seen what looked like shiny zinc with gold/chrome-ish appearance.  There may have been different manufacturers.

Trunk striker was originally clear shiny zinc, the latch was a combination of a galvanized 2 piece outer shell with gold or silver rivets and the clasp being gold colored.  I've never seen anyone restore one correctly, best is to find NOS or good used.

Thought I'd share this pic from my 65 (see sig).

The vendor is "SY".
