67-68 idler pulley bearings?
« on: May 05, 2010, 10:44:05 PM »
I have a couple old idler pulleys part of the setup for a 289/302 with A/C and PS (289 and 302 engines built between 1/3/1967 and 3/1/1968.

My question is can those be rebuilt with new bearings by someone?  I would guess these bearings are pressed on?

They haven't been in use since '85 and they sound dry and a little rough, maybe that is normal?  Just one of those items I'm wondering if I should get fixed before putting on a new engine.

It appears the part numbers are C7AZ-8678-C & C7AZ-8678-B.

Thanks!

Yes, they are pressed on with the silver cap on the front.  Ford did service the bearing, NOS ones pop up from time to time on fleabay.

strangely enough I did some for a 69 mustang the other day and the bearings were made in Japan. I thought that it was odd but another set confirmed the same thing. And they were both factory AC cars. The bearing were easy to aquire and are available through some Mustang catalogs.
