Denver National
« on: July 19, 2015, 08:47:45 PM »
Any one have any pictures or thoughts?  I am in Denver, but tied up in another National there and couldn't make it.
I don't always downshift, but when I do it is near a Prius so they can hear me hurting the environment.

Nice show. Small club went thru a LOT of effort.
~195 judged cars, ~40 display.

Location was beautiful, weather was a challenge - especially my 1400 mile roundtrip in some bad rains. Grass was nice, but presented it's own set of problems... Bugs, dirt, undercarriage viewing, etc.

We also took time to drive the Big Thompson up to Estes Park, and visit the Shelby Collection in Boulder.

Rained some every day... Usually late afternoon/evening. I caught Thursday's rain at Estes park, and it had a LOT of sand/grit in it. Required a trip to the pressure wash to blow that junk off before hand-washing.

Had a small (15 minute), strong storm come thru during judging at 3:05 Saturday. LOTS of cars caught open. Judging had to be temporarily suspended - sideways rain, etc. Seemed like many of the trailered cars spent more time in the trailers than out, (IMO).

Bigtime storms in eastern Colorado & Western Kansas last night caught many of us on the drive home.

Sounds more like an eastern show with the thunderstorms and all  8)

Surprised they didn't go to "Plan B"  but it was someone else's call :)

Thanks for sharing

Question since I've only attended one show and it was in the dry climate of AZ, what happens when there is a threat of strong storms with damaging winds and potential hail?  Are the cars allowed to be moved before judging is finished?  If they are rained on is there a delay for time to try and clean them or is judging modified?

we have never in memory had to cancel judging. but we have gone to plan 'b' a few times. that is a quick walk around, no undercarriages and no doors open if rain is too bad. in the end with experienced judges the car will merit the same award as if a full judging occurred, just no detailed notes for deductions.

Unfortunately, budget, time and mileage forced me to choose one or the other...

Well, that and I gave the wife a choice - Colorado in July or Alabama in August?
She chose wisely. ;D

I'm surprised they didn't reserve the big indoor Convention Center at the Embassy Suites on site there.  We have used that for Corvette regionals in the past, it holds around 150 cars I think.
