PARK and BELTS warning lights
« on: September 01, 2017, 04:14:54 PM »
Does anyone have a secret to installing these bezels in the dash ?

If I try to get the bezel flush with the metal dash the light and harness just fall out. There is a step on the bezel that I thought was wedged under one of the prongs but I failed to take pictures before I removed the wiring harness.

Thanks,
John

Here's an NOS example for pics:

Must be something broken on the plastic at the back to just fall off, take a closer look.
Are they hitting something back there when you push them in?

I'm having a similar problem. My chrome brake bezel is currently detached from the socket. Not sure how to get them together. Was the bezel glued onto the socket or maybe soldered?  If soldered, how would it be done without melting the red lens?

These look to be similar to the 67 Convenience Group lamps I have worked on (using the NOS lamp link above as reference).

FWIW, Scott Drake make replacement bezels & lenses for the later 67-68 style (early 67 is different) and they look very similar.

Attaching was originally staked on (crimped somehow) but I used 2-part epoxy & a toothpick applicator with success  for attaching the bezel & lens to the lamp housing.

They are not the same as the ones off a '67.

Sorry for the comment then. I saw the image of the lamp in eBay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Ford-DAP-C9ZZ-10A841-B-69-Boss-429-Mustang-park-brake-warning-lamp-wiring-/182253214203?hash=item2a6f2359fb:g:ZB8AAOSw91NTuG-5&vxp=mtr and thought this looks 100% just like the later 67's PARK bezel & lens. No problem if I am wrong.

No Worries Richard.i looked into those and thought they would solve the problem but they are a different size all together.  I'm looking into using epoxy but I worried about the stuff bleeding into the lens.

Searching swap meets when they come back, Ebay, and posting wanted ads here and on every site that makes sense

Good luck finding those. Especially the BELTS light. I believe that add on light was only used on cars with both a tachometer and the deluxe seat belt option.

Good point, I have a harness for non tach with a bulb that plugs into the instrument cluster bought before I got the other version for the metal dash.
The park brake warning is not so hard to find though.
