Correct color/sheen for 1969 parts......
« on: September 07, 2017, 09:31:28 PM »
Have a late March 69 (Metuchen) Mach 1. Did a search on a few things and came up empty handed. Looking for correct color/sheen for blower motor (and bracket), bendix brake booster and master cylinder, radiator and radiator top bracket. Also, correct color/sheen for engine pulleys and harmonic balancer? What color are the link pins for front sway bar?

Thanks, Dave

There is no IMHO one correct sheen of all these parts since they were painted different places, with different products, different times of the year (climate conditions) and other variables.  Radiator was painted with lacquer so it will be much different than say the radiator top or bottom clamps. Master cylinder and booster will match shine they were painted together.

The finish should vary on an original car and not be a monotone finish on a restored car if you want to go all the way. Its a range between too flat or two shinny. If a judge or other experienced individual looks at the engine compartment and a part or two catches their eye due to the amount of gloss then the restorer missed the range

Have a look in the 69 assembly manual for the part numbers with finish code for the end link hardware and match the codes to those pictured on the last page of the amkproducts.com pdf catalog.
