handling package
« on: November 25, 2010, 03:33:51 PM »
Is the handling package included on a 66 factory GT? ie increased-rate front and rear springs, larger front and rear shocks and larger front stabilizing bar. The stabilizing bar is this also known as a monte-carlo bar?
regards Matt

According to my '66 Mustang Illustrated Facts book, it does (page 9).

the 'monte-carlo' bar runs across the shock towers. it was not factory on any mustang but could be added by owner or dealer.

In addition to the 15/16" sway bar and a different shock/spring package, the special handling package also included a 16:1 steering box.

Believe the 65-66 handling sway bar would be a 13/16"   :D

I don't think the 15/16 bar came into use on a Mustang until 1967. You most probably are thinking of the 1 inch bar used on the 65/66 GT350's. Bob
