Topic: 67 grill molding hardware

What is the correct hardware to attach the top corners of the large grill opening molding to the grill?

The "key" part is the C7ZB-8B249 retainier which is not reproduced; you will have to source a used part. One is required in each corner. 



The required screw is 372345-S2 and nut is 45144-S2; these parts should be available from AMK or other venders.  I hope this helps.

What is the finish supposed to be?

Being from the east coast most of what I find are "rust" colored!  I have always finished them with semi-gloss black.  I've never found any NOS and not fortunate enough to find well preserved "west coast" examples so I'm not 100% sure of the correct finish.  Judges definately look for the retainers; but I've never heard conversation about the "correct" finish.

I have found both semi-gloss black and phosphate/oil finishes on these grille brackets. Both finishes would be acceptable until we find more evidence.

BTW, these are used on 68 grilles as well.

I did a google search last night and found this. Notice in the hardware kit, the small retainer.  I am not recommending buying this repo kit. But someone thought to make the retainer.
