The chrome base on mine is original and rectanglular with a 'tear drop' shaped insulator in its center.  The mast however is round and not tear drop.

In 30 years of Mustanging I have seen both on unrestored cars.  Since the antennas came in the trunks I am sure there were instances when the dealer prep guy could not find the factory antenna to install it or it was a teardrop mast with a rectangular base from the manufacturer.  The correct replacement is the C9ZZ-18813-A which carries a round mast on a rectangular base.  This is the basis to which all playing fields are leveled.  As in most cases with MCA, their statement in my opinion is to have all cars start from the same venue and not to declare that all cars were built this way.  If you are adamant about the teardrop mast then take the deduction.  Bill Weaver

Does this antenna apply for the 69 Mach1 also? I've heard of many variations of antennas for the 69/70 Mustang.  Also, where can you buy the doggone antennas? seems like the ones you buy from vendors are incorrect, and also seems like every vendors is different from one another.
Please help, cause I'm having the same trouble too finding one.  I've heard Daniel Carpenter carries the correct antenna,,,,but, don't know for sure.

The "tear drop" points to the rear of the car.

I have judged 69/70 concours Mustangs alot. But, no one seems to know who carries these antennas. I have heard Daniel Carpenter also. As priceless points out,,,many vendors show many variations.

That's a standard "parts house" replacement antenna that attaches to the "stub" after the mast has been broken off.  It's a generic piece that will work on any make/model.
