Might be a good idea to save and post the pictures since that link will not last - creating a dead link in the future ;)

The front control arms look to be painted silver.  Factory ones were bare metal and service replacements were painted black. For such a low mile car, why so much work?

152 pictures  :o

Good point, maybe just a few pics and some details.  ;)

At least with the SVO's there are some no mileage cars that are great examples of assembly line correct.  Not sure how correct this car is but it's a beauty!

Nice car, but yes, the front control arms were bare steel from the factory. From the pics, it appears all of the "bare steel" components were painted; rear end, drive shaft, sway bars, springs, brackets, etc., etc. Can't tell on the rear upper and lower arms, those were galvanized from the factory.

There are also several components that were zinc dichromate from the factory and appear to have been painted; fuel filter bracket, alternator pulley nut, etc.

There are a few "paint daubs" that I have not seen before; i.e. the yellow on the muffler hanger brackets.

A lot of work put into that car. Good money, but wasn't he wanting more than that on eBay a while back?

I think the listing said bare steel parts were stripped and cleared.  Lot's of 'paint daubs' for sure.  Maybe an extra few thrown in?

Radiator brackets should be galvanized too, no?

It was on ebay for close to $40k. Fishing I suppose but no harm on foul. Worth a try.  ;)

The upper radiator mounting brackets were painted (dipped) a gloss black over a galvanized finish. Typically you will see the paint start "flaking" off from the galvanized finish over time. I have found service replacements in both painted and bare galvanized finish with the same part number.

For all years?  I thought the brackets on my 84 were galvanized with no sign of black paint?

All the cars I have owned 84-92, 6 cars have been painted black. They maybe galvanized silver color under the paint and the paint wipes off with lacquer thinner. Nos parts I have seen were painted as well.

Just noting that often service replacement parts are finished differently than assembly line parts especially with the concern of sitting on the shelf for years and reducing the chance of rusting or looking poorly.

Yes, that is often true. In this case, I have not seen them rust much and the factory paint is not very durable. Thus they might appear to be unpainted after years of use. Then there is also the reproduction parts which can be chrome or golden cad.
