Would a '66 San Jose built(April) car with factory a/c have received a York or Tecumseh a/c compressor on the assembly line?
-
The heavy one!! :)
-
My car is much earlier - Sept./Oct. '65 build - and has the compressor shown below. Can you tell which manufacturer just by looking?
-
Tecumseh should be cast iron while the York is aluminum. That looks like the Tecumseh model
-
Believe that for the early years the Tecumseh was what was installed on the line while the aluminum York was often included the "kit" and as a serivce part. Lighter (cheaper shipping) and would not surface rust sitting on the shelf plus it matches the original cars documented

OK, didn't know the York was aluminum. Now I understand ;)

Is a "four seasons" compressor the same as Tecumseh?

??? not heard that one before.

Four Seasons is a rebuilder, not a manufacturer.

I see a lot of what appear to be original, Tecumseh compressors advertised as "four seasons"...didn't realize that was the rebuilder's name.
