'65 Window Sticker placement?
« on: May 08, 2011, 07:05:54 PM »
Is there a "correct way" to put the window sticker on my '65 Convertible? Also, was it done at the dealer or at the factory (It was produced at the San Jose plant)?

Would have been different depending on the dealership and how the manager wanted it applied. Believe most out here was on the passenger window fairly far back on the window so that it minimized the obstruction in the case of a test drive

Would the dealership have placed it in a sleeve or just taped it to the window?

Never saw one in a sleeve (not that it was some important piece of paper)  Can't recall if they were using tape or glue locally

Would it be correct to display a window sticker at an MCA judged show?

"Correct"?? Well I would guess that a judge would likely ignore it if it is present. For me I would like to see all the other dealer tags and stuff in place if your going to present the car as it would look sitting on the dealership floor/lot rather than as the first owner too delivery

Jeff, May be I am mis understanding then.....Wouldn't the window sticker be on the car along with all the proper tags while the car was on the dealers floor/lot?

The closest I can remember is when we purchased a '72 brand new and the window sticker was on the car when it sat on the lot and was removed when the car was prepped for delivery...

IS there a difference between a car sitting on the lot and a car delivered?

Guess that is where I failed to communicate my thoughts :(   What we often see at shows are owners with a little of this and a little of that rather than a clear presentation of a specific point in time - such as, as delivered, as arrived at the dealership, on the lot/showroom floor .....

Always saw the window sticker removed from the window at the point of delivery or "drive-off". May have been a concern of visibility for the driver
