« on: April 29, 2012, 02:47:43 AM »
Does anyone know if the seat frames of a Mach1 is different from standard seats?
Need new Mach1 seats and I'm wondering if its possible to upholster standard seat frames with Mach1 upholstery.Thanx!

As far as I'm aware of they are the same Seat. You can upholster them in any pattern.

Cars with Convenience Group have Automatic Seat Back Releases and cars with this Option have the equipment inside the seat to make this work.

1973 Seat are different then 71-72 seats.  The Manual Release Levers to fold the seat forward are in different locations. I hope that helps.

Thank you! Do you know the difference between coupe and convertible seats? I know they are not interchangeable on earlier Mustangs but not sure on '71-'73 models...

You may have already done your seats.  I wanted to recommend on the seam foam if you replace it to use the Mach I seat foam if you are doing Mach I upholstery.  We tried the one size fits all and they did not fit at all the same way.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure how I missed responding to this and should have responded long ago.

The difference between coupe and convertible seats for earlier 65-70 Mustangs was just the hardware that mounted the seat guide tracks to the seat itself. Ford used a bell-shaped spacer and longer screws to raise the seat on 'verts probably 1" or so because the convertible had wider rockers/sills. There were not any differences in the actual seat itself. I have never actually had a 71-73 Convertible so I am not positive if this was still the arrangement used on 71-73.

Andrew,I have only noticed the bell shaped spacer for the seat tracks used on 69 convertibles and then not the entire year .I think early 69 had them and then phased out in later 69.Has anyone else seen the bell shaped spacer used on 65-68 converts?
