1966 Emergency Flasher Clip, Holder, Retainer
« on: May 01, 2016, 08:16:31 PM »
I have a couple of questions:

1) Is the Emergency Flasher Clip in the Photo correct for a '66 Dearborn Coupe built circa March 1966? and

2) Whether it's correct or not, where would the Clip be mounted?

Thanks

Ray

That's the clip called out in the 66 Electrical Manual, C1TF-13351-A. It's the one I have found on all my 66 San Jose Mustangs. It should be located between the glove box and the ash tray on the lower lip of the dash, both the early and late wiring harnesses are designed for it to be there. It uses a 42127-S2 screw and a 45144-S2 nutclip. (My 66 Electrical book is opened to that page.)

And a picture - seems that a PO reinstalled the flasher sideways last time   ::)

That bracket, C1TF-13351-A, was designed to mount the flasher either vertically or horizontally. The 66 Electrical Assembly manual shows vertical. Sticking your hand up there to check wiring or replacement was not easy, so if it fit, good.
Speaking of flashers, there are two type, the turn signal type says "two bulbs" on the can for either the left or right hand pair; the emergency flasher says "four bulbs" because all four bulbs are lit.

Thanks Jim forgotten about the vertical "bumps" for mounting the relay that way. Found on in the garage

I know we've been over this one before.. There was also another type Factory Emergency Flasher Clip installed in 1966 Dearborn cars.  Here is the Factory Emergency Flasher Clip from my May 18th, 1966 Convertible.

Here it is below. It is made of White Nylon Plastic with a sheetmetal Factory Hex Head screw and Hex nut.  I have seen these same clips in other Dearborn '66's as well.

Here it is "as found" still in its Factory position.

What were the dates or car vins from the others you've seen? Where they all 66's?

Anyone else have the same on their 66 Dearborn car?

I've only ever seen them on '66's Jeff... I'll have to pull the other VIN numbers... I know that I have at least one other VIN for sure.. I think that it was just one of those running change oddities.  It should be easy enough for people to check under the dash of their '66's... It only takes a big 2 seconds to look under with a flashlight..so we can get a small survey on here..

The VIN# on my Dearborn '66 Convertible is: 6F08T352910 .

By the way, Do you know of anywhere that carries the other more commonly found Metal type.  I need one for my '65 Convertible..

:o)
