Title: Identify These Clips -
Post by: jwc66k on August 07, 2017, 07:47:50 PM
These three clips have been "floating" around my junk box for a while and I would like to verify their application.
The first one I believe is shown in the 67 Chassis Manual on page 31 in view "Y" as 7B085. The 75 MPC says for the service department to make a replacement, so this clip has a factory designation but no replacement number.
The second one (two are in the picture) I believe is also shown in the 67 Chassis Manual on page 31 in view "Z" as "Clip Part Of Trans Assy.". It may be shown in the MPC Illustration Section A71 page 3 as used on C4 or C/M transmission with either a 302 or 351 but is not replaced. Another "lost" part.
The third one I have no idea about. The red arrow on the top is to indicate a bend (or two) that may have been caused by an accident, or someone pulling very hard on what ever this clip was supposed to be holding. The red bar under the clip points to a bend that may or not be natural. The clip end is hard rubber (or its equivalent).

Jim need to study and think about these but thought I might suggest that you put something in the future pictures to illustrate size for comparison. Possibly something as simple as a quarter rather than spend the time measuring or something like that. ;)

The first clip holds the modulator line at the passenger side top bell housing bolt.
The second hold the modulator line to the passenger side of the C4 transmission where it ends and attaches to the 90 degree hose.
I am not certain of the third because of unknown scale but I think it may be a door lock rod retainer clip that is bent.

The first clip is often lost once the bell housing bolts are removed. They can end up in Jim's tool box! They also can be tough to find when you need one. I know where one is now. LOL

Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks. Let's see if this tip is picked up by others.
Pic 4 - the modulator line bracket. From the picture, it's a 66 and 67 C4 V8 application. It's not on my 65.
The first clip holds the modulator line at the passenger side top bell housing bolt.
From Jeff's picture, it appears to be on the driver's side, and son-of-a-gun (I just walked out to my garage), there's one on the drivers side of my 66 HP.
Pic 5 - a second modulator line bracket.
Pic 6 and 7 - the mystery bracket, with the "stressed" bends indicated by red arrows.
At this stage of research, I'm going to straighten the bend neared the mounting hole, for a different perspective.

FYI Chris Brown is making the C6 versions of the clips now (intended market). I believe one or both may also be used on the C4.
