Title: Early 64.5 tie down brackets
Post by: CharlesTurner on August 21, 2009, 11:22:24 AM
A friend of mine has an April '64 convertible he's restoring.  Showed me the tie down plates, which looked different than the typical later versions.  These were the long style and were slightly wider than the later long ones.  Will try to get a picture.  Thought I would share another early detail.  Nate probably already knows this one though!  ;D

Thanks Charles... they are different.  3 different versions exist.  Pre Production, March-April brackets and the more comming longer ones.  the difference is in the rear frame rails.  when the access plugs went away in the trunk is when the brackets changed to the more common ones.

Nate, based on the styles you listed, it would actually be (at least) four different styles. The "common" longer style would be for dual exhaust cars. In actuality, the true common style would be the single exhaust style which was different (unless I'm misunderstanding how you referenced the "longer" one).

Just for reference sake, I would be curious to know if the dual exhaust style tie down changed between the 64 1/4 cars and the 65/66 cars.
