Title: '66 Rally Pac tach face
Post by: gjz30075 on October 05, 2009, 11:45:59 AM
Hi all,
I'm wanting to fit a proper rally pac to my '66 GT (Oct '65 SJ build).   I understand from an early previous owner that the car came with one but it's long gone now.    I have seen presumably originals, with the 'Ford' at the bottom of the tach face, with tach increments in either tens or fives, ie, the numbers on the tach face are either 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, etc, or 0, 10, 20, 30 etc , all the way to 6k.    I've seen both types on 8 cyl cars but the owners retro fitted them and couldn't really answer the question.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Here's an example of what I mean:

Note the differences with the increments in the tach face.

All of my unrestored 66 cars that have had rally pacs from factory all have the 500 rpm increments on the raly pacs.  seem to remember there was a discussion on another forum about this and i think the voice of reason was that both are acceptable.

im sure there will be others who may have a opinion on this.

p.s for what its worth i prefer the 500 rpm version over the 1000 rpm style.
