Just a silly question
« on: February 28, 2016, 05:50:16 AM »
Hi all,

I was wondering if is there's any possibility to get a "judgement" of a car based on pictures or whatever, by email, so we, the outside of areas/countries with MCA judges, can get some acknowledgment of authenticity or grille medallions, etc... for our cars.  I know this is mostly impossible but had to ask. Sorry for the question guys.!

Not silly at all.  I would recommend posting quality pictures, but not all in one post.  For example you could post pictures of the engine compartment in one thread, then trunk in another thread, etc.

Also I should mention that there may be questions that have already been answered, and you can use the search engine to look before you post.  More than likely though you will find answers about this detail or that, but ultimately if you want parts of your car assessed posting pictures is the way to go.

Start small and see how it goes.

Thanks very much John.
Yes, it could be delivered in "small boxes". If the judges agree to go with that, they just can ask for what they want to see, so I/we can send the qualit pictures as required to inspect.
That way, and step by step, we can have our cars credited and who knows, one day we can have a grille medallion in front of our ponies.!

I would suggest that you take some pictures of the engine compartment and post it under the section for the appropriate year.  There is a lot to look at under the hood.

Make sure you include the model year, assembly plant, and build date.

That section sounds good.  But no worries, if something posted in a less than optimal section it will be moved.

As for a subject, I would suggest something like "please comment on my 66 engine compartment" (or 64.5 or 65 whichever it is)

If you already know of some things that are incorrect, you can note them.

Also if you have specific concerns or questions, you can list those as well.

I've been a member of MCA for a long time and I don't think that MCA would award a grill medallion or any other award based solely on pictures. That would truly be out of the norm.

Good point, I did not see that the first time around.

What we would do here is point the way toward a concours approach and factory correct details.

he would actually have to attend the shows & earn the appropriate award to receive the points toward a medallion. also depending on where the shows were located & were either a national or grand national would determine just how many he would have to attend. there is absolutely no other way to obtain that medallion. if the owner is overseas this could get real expensive real quick. i have two of those and it cost me a bundle of $$ and several years time and i live  here in the states.

OK, so I was (unfortnatly!) right.!
I know I have some parts that maybe have to be changed, and many others that are correct, I think more than 80% of my car could go to concours, but definitely I can't go with my car from my place to the States just for a show, still not that amount of money in my pocket.!
But thank you all for you help and info. I will continue the research of wrong parts in my vehicle and substitute them for the correct ones.
