Decoding a Power Steering Tag

Can someone decode my power steering tag?  I know it says the pump is black but don't know if it belongs on my 69 Dearborn Shelby GT 350.

The Tag reads HBA  BK
                      2   W    14     9

The '75 MPCs (both Ford and L-M) show several uses for the BK pump, but not on Mustangs.

"BK" does not indicate "black" in this usage.

Yes,  I know. It has a w for the make which in turn indicates the color.

+1 . W is short for TRW which was one of two MFG's to supply to SJ plant. TRW were painted black which was a identifying factor outlined in the Ford TSB on the subject.

Unlike 67/68 Shelby truck sourced pump, the return nipple is at a 45 degree angle pointed down on the 69/70 just like the regular Mustang.The Pump is no different then the regular Mustang application .In your case a 69/70 "M" code application.

ok,

The one on my car presently has a 90 degree elbow for the return line. That is the difference ( along with the wrong tag)

They will all function the same regardless of the tag on the back.  Typically they get switched with a rebuilt  replacement from the auto parts store . It happens all the time .

Only way to maintain the tag and the correct can (reservoir ) at rebuild time is to get a rebuilt pump assembly (insides) and get a new O ring and seal the original can up the pump along with the original tag.
