Shock Tower Reinforcement Rear L-Bracket
« on: March 02, 2013, 09:46:12 PM »
May 70 Dearborn Boss 2

I have looked at the FAQ and archives and  know that the shock tower reinforcement braces are slop grey for a Dearborn car. However, is that  L-shaped reinforcement bracket (rear of engine bay, where shock tower braces bolt to the firewall), also slop grey?  I could not find any mention of this, and just want to be sure.

I also came across a reference in one of the slop grey postings here mentioning "the small headlight support brackets" and never heard this referenced before. Is this also slop grey? and if so what bracket is this referring to?

Thanks again

The cowl L bracket is semi gloss black. The headlight bucket support L brackets are 1969 only.

Believe so (bob will correct me if I'm incorrect on this one ;)   Not designed or original on your scj car.

I've looked all over for that L bracket.  Does anyone have one they'll sell or know where to get a repop?  If not would someone post all of the dimensions and I'll get one fabricated?          Thanks................Ben

NPD carries it in their catalog (likely other vendors do also) price was $30

Tony,

Can you get me the dimension of each leg of the L bracket? Also is the L  a 90 degree bend or less?  I got the one that NPD sells and it's not correct so I'll get one made.     ............Thanks.............Ben.

Ben,

here you go:

Length: 11 1/2"
Horizontal section: 1 5/16" measured from the edge to the inside of the bend
Vertical  section:  7/16" measured from the edge to the inside of the bend

|
| 7/16"
|____________
  <---1 5/16"--->

Hope that this helps.

Tony
