1967 Front Bumper Overstamped Factory Codes

(1/1)

kkupec02:
I have been looking for a matching date stamped front bumper to match my factory original rear bumper. I came across a front bumper locally that I bought for $30 with over stamps. I assume it is a factory replacement part but couldn't go wrong for that price while I continue the search.  The date codes are top line: 11 over stamped on an 8, then 6 2 M 2 with the M over stamped on a 9 or vice versa. Lower line: upside down 2 then 6 7, then 8 1 with something under the 8 maybe a 1? Any guesses on what I bought? Thinking early over the counter replacement. Thanks.

A picture would be great.

Here are the best 3 pictures of the 20 or so that I took.

Since we're talking front bumpers,  can I assume if there are no numbers stamped on the bumper for 67 or 68s then it's not a FoMoCo part? I've taken mine off to replace because it's dented and showing age and it has no numbers on the inside at all.

In addition the wave washers were installed under the mounting brackets and not sandwiched in between the bumper and the mounting bracket per the assembly manual.

No numbers stamped in the front bumper typically = aftermarket part.
