Carlite logo on door glass
« on: February 18, 2010, 09:37:17 AM »
I picked up a pair of door glasses yesterday at the salvage yard,
original Ford with the Carlite logo from two different 67 Convertibles.
After cleaning it up at home I noticed that the Carlite logo was in
two different locations:

LH door glass 6H date from 67 conv Metuchen build, Carlite logo at back

RH door glass 6G date from 67 conv Dearborn build, Carlite logo at front

Was it a running change to change the location of the Carlite logo or
maybe a another glass plant doing it differently?

I'll take a stab at this not being an expert:
I think its possible that the original Carlite glass was made in more than 1 plant for the various Ford assembly plants-the reason the logos are in different places that you found.
I know with my '65 Dearborn car that when I had P S Auto make my reproduction windsheild that they needed to know which way the Carlite logo read and rather it  was from the inside or outside.
Same holds true for the side glass....you might want to contact P S yourself & ask them as they seem to have some info as to what they believe was the norm back in the day.
