Title: OE Single Exhaust welded or clamps
Post by: nham3407 on May 21, 2013, 05:44:00 PM
I have a Dearborn 01/72 Mach 1, 351-2V Mark (aka svo2scj) provided a picture of the single exhaust system he received from another party.  The picture is not at an angle where I can see if there is a clamp at the intermediate pipe to muffler and muffler to tailpipe.  I have an OE muffler I recently acquired cut off of a car in 72 and put away in the shed.  It is in very good condition but it was cut with a saws all very close to the center chamber so it will need some new extensions welded on.  I am trying to find out if the OE system was welded from the intermediate back?

Originally the intermediate pipe (forward of the muffler) and the over-axle pipe (aft of the muffler) would have been welded to the muffler.  Ford offered the three pieces individually as service parts for a while, but then went to fully welded assemblies before they became obsolete.
