When installing the vinyl seat belt buckle cups back into the console, what is used to "glue" them in place?? Is there a recommended type of glue or cement for this?? Thanks!
-
Why not use two-sided tape?
In case that you're in need for take away the belt buckle cups, it is much easier and far less destructive than glue?
naturally, it isn't factory correct.
kind regards,
Jeroen

Would use contact glue as originally done. Two sided tapes (well many of them) have a thickness to them that will effect how the cups sit in the console

I have found that most of the cups have shrunk and do not fit the console well leaving large gaps after gluing in. I made a wooden form slightly tapered in both directions that fits the cup very tightly. I put some black silicone in the console just below top of the opening then I use the heat gun to warm up the cup. I set the cup in the console then push the block in to stretch it to fit tightly in the opening. I leave the block for 24 hour to be sure it is set.
I have been happy with the results.

I like the technique.

I like the sound of that technique too. So black silicone like the permatex brand?? That would also make for an easy removal than glue if ever needed.
Thx for the tip!

I do not think the brand matters. I used black just in case you can look down the crack and see the silicone.

I have just used the silicone technique on my seat belt buckle cups with good results. Thanks for sharing!! I used a small piece of wood to hold the cups opened up when placing them in the console insert.
