Does anyone sell the clips that go behind the dash pad trim or know how many there are suppose to be really? My windshield is getting replaced this Saturday and I took the trim off in advance and noticed there are only 2 metal clips attached to the passenger side only. There are 6 spots total where there could be clips. 65 SJ fastback
Thanks

Not following exactly. Are you talking about the windshield molding clips?

These clips:

I only have two if them and they are only behind the passenger side dash pad trim
-
I've only seen those on'67-up.

Hmm interesting....i know it's not the original windshield. It was replaced by either the first or second owner with a carlite blocked lettering windshield with a date code of 4E. Do you think someone added just the 2 clips?
-
They're really not necessary on a 65-66 as the molding fits up pretty tight. The dash pad angle is sharper in 67-8, which is probably why they were used... albeit, I have only found them in the center position.

Those are very hard to find on mustangs. I have taken apart alot of early mustangs and the cars with the dash trim never removed usually contain those clips their is a clip for every screw. If they are gone the dash or winshield has been removed or leaked at sometime because they are a total pita to get back in. If some are missing the dash has been tampered with sometime in their life time. My 66 K Coupe for San Jose I have been working on contained all the clips and even 140 or number 01 have the clips
-
They're not something that would fall off easily upon removal or an owner deem unnecessary and simply discard. On the cars that I have seen them on, I have only ever found one clip, which was in the middle.

For what its worth, I'm using Osborn's Body Assembly Manual for 64 1/2 Mustangs and I don't see the clips called out, just screws.

I was looking through some books and I did find a mention of these clips in two places. One on page 22 of the Mustang interior restoration guide by Art Trantafello. I guess they are called support brackets (part #65045c72). There is a pic on the bottom of the page showing the diagram. They are also shown in the 64.5-73 restoration book diagram on page 92. Very small but you can see it there.

Your car, install them if you like. Not typically found on 65-66 cars as mentioned before.
