Title: 68 Metuchen fastback spare tire decal
Post by: sigtauenus on July 18, 2010, 06:44:27 PM
Spare tire decal doesn't fit anywhere cleanly against the skin of the trunk lid, ie, its going to overlap onto the frame/structure.  Assuming it matches coupes and goes to the lower right side, is there any consistency for where it was placed, ie, which part of the trunk lid frame it overlaps onto?

March 68 production

My decal overlapped part of rounded section, about 1 cm or so..... 68 Metuchen coupe. I am sure it was not an exact science.... just applied in the same general area.

I don't know if a Dearborn car would have placed the trunk decals in a different location, but here are a few pictures of my original 68.5 CJ trunk lid.

We would expect that the locations might be different since the lines were set up differently and of course different workers. We've often found differences in other years also
