Title: Oil Cap Red & White Sticker?
Post by: Skyway65 on July 27, 2010, 09:49:32 AM
I'm getting down to the final stages of detailing my engine bay and was wondering if someone could tell me if all '65 engines are supposed to have the round, red and white, "oil change" sticker on the oil cap?  I see no trace of mine ever having one.  All the restored cars I've seen have them while a few of the unrestored cars don't.  Is this another case of everyone copying everyone else and putting the sticker on when perhaps it really shouldn't be there?  (Jan '65 Dearborn 200 I6)

Seems like I've seen more 65's without the decal than with.  I'd suggest to leave it off for now and then add it later if you find convincing evidence that it should have one.

That seems logical.  It's just one of those things you don't notice until it's time to decide, "sticker or no sticker."

None of my 3 unrestored 65's had any evidence that there was a sticker.

That's funny.. I've seen more original  '64.5-'65's with them.. than '66's.  Go figure.
