Title: 260 Generator Adjusting arm
Post by: jamesroney on July 18, 2017, 08:28:01 PM
Help,
I am working on my March built 260 Convertible.  I am having trouble installing the Generator heat shield.  The notch for the adjusting arm is not in alignment with the arm.

Does anyone know if the Generator adjusting arm is bent (curved) or if it is straight.  The one I have is straight and from a 64 Falcon.  Is the Mustang arm unique?

Thanks,
James.

Should be curved with the arc on top.

Here is a pic of my assembled 260. Hopefully this helps in identifying the Gen bracket and placement.

A couple of comments in an effort to help

Your going to want to paint the bypass hose and clamps. They really stand out not painted as unoriginals

Teflon tape can at least be cut back to the edge of the exposed fitting and picked out so that the white does not remain so visible

Carb spacer would have had intake paint on it also at least towards the mating surface and fading upward

Harmonic balancer bolt and washer would not have been painted  and the fuel pump gasket would not have been Felpro blue ;)

Thank you for the awesome picture, and the fast replies.  That generator bracket is definitely different than the one i have.  That explains a lot!

Touche' Jeff. That pic was from 2012 and I have learned a lot / fixed a lot since then. It was just one of the better pics I had to help show the Gen bracket.  ;)

Cropped to help focus on the item in question.  ;D :)

That looks correct, based on page 4-50 of Bob Mannel's book.

The comments  were more for others since posting here some might assume that things are 100% or close to if left unmentioned.  I often crop pictures I post so that it minimizes the thread going a different direction or having to add captions of "this or that" in the picture aren't correct ;)

Its about unintended consequences loke many things in life .

Totally understandable Jeff. Cropping is a good solution as well.
