Had the pleasure of looking at a couple of ultra low mileage original mustangs this weekend (73 Convertible - 140 original miles, former car from Bob Perkins collection and a 72 mach 1). The mach 1 has a tape stripe the same color as the rocker panel paint color that makes the break between the body color and the rocker color (black). Can this tape stripe be located anywhere? Most of the catalogs only list the rocker as painted without a listing for a tape stripe at the top.

Sorry can't help with the stripe - hopefully someone will post some help
Just wanted to mention that that lower accent color was applied before the body color rather than over.
Sort of like the interior paint application on some (ones with painted door surfaces) Mustangs

I just finished restoring a very late (July 15 built) 1971 Mach 1. The stripe is readily available from any of the big Mustang parts suppliers. When 71 and 72 Mach 1's were ordered with the Mach 1 side stripe (it was a separate option!), it omitted the thin bright trim which covered the paint break, and used the double (3/4" and 1/4") tape stripe to cover the paint break. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the info. on the stripe be correct and available. Where did you purchase the stripe for your restoration. NPD and Mustangs Unlimited do not appear to list it in their catalogs. I would like to have the stripe so the paint can be mixed to match to avoid any variation. My car was ordered with the Mach 1 stripe option. Thank you

The stripe is available via special order from the Mustang Market in Virginia, 540 896-9620 (very friendly and helpful people). They made my stripe kit and the lower stripe is an exact match.
