I have 69 Mach1 with this part number stamped on the rear leaf springs. just want to know if they are original items, the car is a 351 4v, FMX, 9 inch rear axle car. The spring part number is C9ZA 5556C 0870 or 9.

Don't have any personal sightings to confirm but other documents suggest that these may have been one of the rear springs used on cars similar to what you provided
-
Thanks Jeff, I will get the number off the other spring to see if they are similar.
-
Would guess that the date is hard to read since the one you posted does not match the expected pattern - Julian calendar
-
The codes are fairly clear, it's the last digit, not sure if it is a 0 or 9.

I see a very faint double-strike of the numbers below the obvious one; in particular, the RH side dimple is quite prominent and a "7" just to the left of it. What I see to the right of the upper 7 may be an 8 and offset upwards.

Thanks - you have one of those springs (from a different supplier)
Just for the record where was your car built? Think I know but will wait for you to maybe confirm ;)

I will photograph the other spring at the weekend and will try to get clearer images, thanks for your help.

I have this letter from Ford which has some basic info on my car.

Original 69 Export car. Very cool

I guess my car is no different from a non export Mach1. It still has its original interior including all of the rear fold down seat assembly in fairly good condition. I have the paperwork for all of the owners in the UK from new, the only thing that I haven't been able to find is the importer dealer, I know in the '60's in the UK there were a few specialist American car importers who imported car's for private purchases, as far as I know no UK Ford dealer's were selling new Mustangs.
