Hi,
Would anyone have a good picture of a 66 fastback with the trunk lid open.We are looking for the torsion bar,and the link that attaches it to the right hinge. There must be several retainers that were used on the torsion bar to prevent the link from disconnecting.Any pictures or comments will help.
Thanks in advance!!

Not really, though owners often found really creative ways at making things for this purpose. Seem everything from a nail to a hose clamp :o

Thanks Jeff,
If you posted a picture,I can't figure out how to view it.
The comments alone have helped answer questions and solve a small mystery.
Again Thanks much appreciated!

You're talking about the retainer that slips on the FB torsion rod, right? I've checked everywhere and there is no repro piece out there that matches the original design.
I went to Lowes, bought an axle cap, ripped off the plastic and used the metal retainer inside. My bodyman ripped the original off the torsion bar and broke the damn thing.

I don't know if this helps but here is the torsion bar on my SJ fastback...Don't know if 66 was the same or not:

They weren't during the period his car was built ;)

Wow! I personally have never seen the clip on the left hand side. The Osborne Body Assembly Manual for 1966 does not show that clip but does show a close-up of that area. I wonder if that is a 1965 specific item...

IIRC, it is more of a San Jose thing than specific to the year model.

Can someone post pictures of the retaining hardware or cap for the torsion rod on a March 66 San Jose Fastback?
Thanks!

Same round keeper as the rest of the year. Can't, at the moment remember how many slots, cuts or teeth each one had
Here are some examples from March period

Real close up of the clip from a period just before the one you asked about

The one on the left side looks suspiciously like a wiring clip?

Thank you. Here is a link for one on Ebay. Does anyone know if this is a hardware or auto body supply Auveco like item?

It is. San Jose made things work.

This is a "workable" retainer. The outside diameter is 1/2 inch. The original is 3/4 inch. It is definitely not concourse.

There are eight "teeth". Re 380264-S2.
The use of a part number allows everyone to be on the same wavelength.

Jim, your dimensions are spot on, as they were in 2015...:

I bought one of those in the mentioned eBay listing and was pretty disappointed when I compared it to original. Not even close, sadly.
