Title: What's mounted before underhood black?
Post by: 390Pony on December 10, 2011, 09:38:31 AM
Getting ready to shoot engine bay black. I've got everything out of the bay. I thought I read a post sometime back that said the steering box among other things were mounted on the car when it was applied. Can someone give me a quick rundown of what was in place before the black was applied. (ie lower crossmember, suspension parts, steering column ?)
I have a 67 s code, dearborn car. Thanks a ton.

I really can't think of any thing that was mounted and painted with the engine bay. Even the other parts that were black were painted separately because the fasteners were not painted. I'll attach some pictures of a 68 that may give you some idea.

Not sure if your car had a buck tag but that would have been in before paint.

Agree that nothing was attached by bolt, screw or wire before painting. Only the buck tag as mentioned if your talking about one of the plants and years those were used
