Hi guys, it's been a while since I've posted.  I've had my '65 convertible (A-code, 4-speed) for about 10 years now.  When I first restored it, I put Flowmaster mufflers on it.  As far as I know, the H-pipe and everything forward from it are still original parts. 

This was a single-exhaust car originally, but all of that was long gone by the time I got the car.  I'm tired of the noise and drone from the Flowmasters, but I am not interested in going back to single exhaust.  What were the options in 1965?  Was there an over the counter exhaust kit that Ford offered to convert single exhaust cars to dual?

Is there an OEM-style exhaust kit that will bolt up to my car without drilling or modifications?  I'm not interested in drilling the floorpans for exhaust hangers or anything like that, otherwise I'd just install an exhaust kit like the OEM one that's on my '66 GT.

From discussion with workers at dealerships if a buyer wanted to change to dual exhaust that the typical practice was to just take the car to the local Midas or similar shop and them up charge the customer after they had a signed contract or purchase agreement.  Most buyers didn't want to wait for the over the counter system to be shipped and in turn wait for their new car to be the way they wanted it.  Quicker for dealer and buyer and  possibly cheaper for the buyer once you consider Fords shop rate compared to a local muffler shop even with the dealer adding on another $50.

Can someone share the details of those circular mufflers pictured?

They may be the same or  related to the ones pictured below.

Picture was labeled C5ZZ-5230-U though that is not the engineering numbers I can make out on  the parts

Curious; Did this Ford dual exhaust kit offer end with 1965-1966 or did it continue for subsequent year models?

This Dual Exhaust Kit was available for 260, 289 and 302's through 1968 (it is shown in the 1967 only MPC as well as in the 1960-68 MPC. Sometime between July 1968 and July 1969, the Part Number changed to C5ZZ-5210-B, and interestingly, during that same time period, it was then shown as "Obsolete".

Thanks for the additional research, since many 67-68 cars were converted to dual exhaust over the years and this shows Ford was also aware of a demand for dual conversions.  Why Ford didn’t install dual exhaust on higher performance models like 67 GT A-Codes I suspect is due to increased production costs, although that likely left some customers with those cars feeling shorted.
