Now for something different - Game 3#
« on: February 16, 2019, 06:53:06 PM »
Seemed to be fairly popular so here is another picture full of clues and possible distractors.

Rules:

- Identify what the car in the picture likely is by identifying the parts and details included in the picture posted. Then draw your conclusion from those possibilities.  In some games the best possible statement can end up being what the car may be based on the visible clues. Or for some it could be this or that depending on what parts are original to the car.

- Be as specific as you can be.

- Not all of the parts visible in the picture may belong to car in question and there may be repairs, replacement parts or part from other cars included in the picture.

- Some games/pictures have fewer clues so the identification may not be as exact as it is in other games.

- Play fair and have fun. The award is not worth an argument ;)

- I anticipate that this game will end and be locked in one week from first posting.

If anything, you need to sweep out your garage more often.

65-67 fastback with the fold down flipped down. The center trunk torsion bar hold-down and tootsie roll are at top of the antifreeze container which are only used on fastbacks.
It appears to have a V-8 flexplate so if it belongs it's a 289 automatic.
It's not a generator car.
I'll go for 67 289 auto car, standard black interior.
The red oxide on the inside of the sill may indicate a SJ car.

All plants would have used red oxide as a base for interior paint coats

Not sure but it looks like a lack of carpet on the rocker panel indicates maybe an early build fastback.

The courtesy light with the long wire has to be from a 64.5, 65, or a 66, as those are the only years without a pigtail for the courtesy lamps.  Looks to be an automagic car as well.  What I don't see is any trim on the fold-down seat for the fastback.

Believe the carpet for under the sill has just tilted back towards the camera since the sill plate is removed. The carpet is long enough the top edge of the vertical inner rocker panel surface.

A little more challenging since the view, angle and clues are reduced.

Thickness of the front seat back suggest it's a 65-67.
If the parking brake spring goes with the car, that would narrow it down to 65/66.  That spring was not used in 67.
It also appears that the seat back for the drivers seat is missing and the pattern of the seat cover would suggest 65.  Seat belt anchor looks to be an early design, but it's hard to tell in the picture.  My guess is it is a early 65 automatic fastback.

Looks like a fender clip with pad that is unique to 65-66...  ;D

I spotted that and wondered what the heck it was.
I don't recall seeing it on my 65, but that was a long time ago.

I'll have to retract my 67 car guess!

But are the condenser and the alternator in the same pic a clue?
Could that mean that the condenser is for a 65 alternator?
I know there is one on the regulator, but is it included here to help lead us toward 65?

Every thing in these pictures I post for this exercise can be a clue but none of these are set up, instead they are random pictures from my collection that, after review, might work for this sort of practice.  Some of the items may or likely were on the car at some point but doesn't mean that they were original to that particular car.

In examples seen at yards there are often parts from other cars tossed in or hidden (moving parts from one car to another in the general area) to keep other people from finding so that the person can return later for them.  One reason to check out cars around a car your interested in while at those places.
