Carburetor tag translation please
« on: January 04, 2011, 09:20:58 PM »
I want to get a bronze tag for my 66 SJ GT manual trans car  with thermactor system.    I know it needs to say C6ZF D but unsure of the bottom line.    Shown is an example and I'd like to know what the two 'B's represent.  I'm pretty sure the 5L is a date code.    Thanks.

Don't know for sure what the first B is, probably a shift code.  5LB is the date code, 2nd week of November, '65.

First B is the design change.  My book does not indicate what the change is from A, maybe others will know.

Thanks guys.   I didn't realize Marti had a book on this subject.   I just went to his site and it looks like its his "Mustang and Cougar Tag Book" that could answer these questions.     Another addition to my library!  :)
