axle tag

(1/1)

c9zx:
I have figured out that the "plant code" 955B indicates a 3.25:1 gear set, non locking differential. Does 955A indicate same ratio with locking differential? 1972 Q code, 9 inch differential.

Thanks, Chuck

svo2scj:
NO

According to Marti Tagbook the suffix (added after 1969) is for internal engineering change

Mark
WFB-C or C2 is 3L25 (locking)   WES-AD2 is 3:25 open

c9zx:
Thank you for the information. By any chance does the tag book indicate what the "plant code " is for 3.25:1 28 spline locking? The reason I ask about the A meaning locking is the 2 Boss 351 axle tags I've seen have an A suffix.

Thanks Again,
Chuck

svo2scj:
The the "plant code" 900 series is Mustang/Cougar.

IF it is 28spline then it should be WES code (and not locking)

Mark
P.S.  Again the "suffix" is called out as internal engineering change (doesn't matter if Boss 351 )

c9zx:
Thank you for the information.

Chuck
