You were misinformed on the the white paint being factory applied on the face of the brake drums . The white paint was most likely past owner applied. They would be cast iron gray typically or possibly given a brushed on black out treatment . All 68's came with hubcaps from the factory . The hubcap cars did not typically receive a black out treatment like the deluxe wheel equipped cars . FYI only about 5 cars are documented from the factory (very early production) to have received the 67 style tenspoke deluxe wheels and they were all sent overseas. I am not quite sure what you mean about if 69 parts are concours for 68. Some 68 parts were also used on 69 cars . If that is what you mean you would have to ask that question on the specific item or items in question to get a appropriate answer. I hope this helps . Bob

You will sometimes see white (also light blue) on the ends of the axles but I've never seen white paint on brake drums of a 68 shelby

Have seen white, red, orange and blue on the rear brake drums of many Mustangs (looks cool when you can see it through the wheel openings) but IMHO not original ;)

+1 on Tims observation of white on the end of axles.

Have seen light blue on the end of a 68 small block (8") San Jose car (should not be plant specific IMHO) on the drivers side that appeard to be original
