My car is an early car and yes there seems to be a little skepticism about a few of its OE features.  I am not the original owner but am fortunate to have the build sheet and it helps to fill in some of the blanks or questions I might have.  I figured the early chrome covers came with dates, but know way to verify that, and thanks for sharing.  My Metuchen car's block was cast 8/17/68 and assembled 8/27/68. The car was ordered 9/4/68, built 9/19/68 and sold 9/27/68.  So it seems they had a pretty fast turn around.  I do have other questions concerning OE early Metuchen 69's and am glad you decided to jump in and share some of that info about the decal and valve covers.  Thanks again; Jim and Mike.  Brian

If you're interested in coming to NY where it's cold and rainy, you can return the favor by helping me get my car assembled and roadworthy!!!

So a Boss ?  I do enjoy wrenching on the cars but not my cup of tea.  I know Jeff has one, this site and the Boss site are going to save you a ton of grief.  Been to NY a few times and up state in mid September was the best.  Thanks again,  Brian

Not a Boss. The previous owner went with that paint scheme when he started his resto.  My car 'should' be a replica of yours. Candyapple Red with blackout hood and black/gold stripe kit, lovers and front/rear spoiler. I'll get it there down the road. My intent is to get the car on the road and enjoy her a for few years, then go back to the original color scheme when I have it painted.

Looking through more NJ 69 pictures I did find one other car with the service decal up on the cowl - but much later in the production year. Must have been a fill in guy that didn't work that station very often - in fat rarely based on these findings so far. That car - 9T02Q132390

Guess if this subject continues we'll need to split or start a new thread ;)

Jeff: As the picture Mike posted shows, the decal is on the firewall just below the pinchweld, must have been a job for new hires or something to that effect.

Looks like above the cowl to firewall pinch weld but below the cowl cover/hood weather strip ;)

Got the Emissions decal from Tom at ECS and it looks about perfect.  Looks the same as jimhib's and and Jeff's examples with the 650 rpm auto trans idle setting.  As Rockhouse noted an early decal with the C8OE-9C485-C part number and the later decal suffix would be a D.  Thanks for the help.  Brian

Using the info and examples posted in this discussion I have, what I think, is a very close representation of the original set.   Thank you for the suggestions and pictures.  Brian
