WTB: '65-66 Disc Brake Master Cylinder Rod
« on: July 22, 2014, 05:21:00 PM »
I'm finally getting around to troubleshooting a brake issue on my '66 GT fastback.  To make a long story short, sometime during its life my car picked up a shorter master cylinder rod than what it should have.  I measured it against my '65 convertible (also a factory disc car), and the master cylinder to pedal rod is around 1/2 inch shorter on the fastback.

Does anyone have a used '65-66 disc brake master cylinder rod they'd be willing to part with?  These rods aren't the easiest things to change out, so I want to be sure I get the correct rod before trying to swap everything out.

Thanks!!   :D

Can you post the dimensions you're looking for?  I have a tray of maybe 5 or so of these.

Charles, if it wasn't so hard to get one of these out of an assembled car, I would.  I don't have any extras handy that I can 100% verify came from another disc brake car.

Still on the lookout for one of these if anyone has one they'd be willing to part with.   :D

The Aug. '69 Ford Parts book shows the following:  "Before 5/24/65" the rod is 6" long.  After 5/24/65 it is 6" from center of the hole to end.  This is in Group 2143, Rod Assy.  -Brake Master Cylinder Push.  No distinction made between disc or drum brakes.
I have an extra of the longer rod.  Send me a PM if interested.

Thanks for the offer, but I measured the rod I bought, and it's the longer version, 6" from center of the hole to the end of the rod.  Thank you though!   :D
