Title: Override Traction Bar boot from Heavy Trucks parts bin
Post by: Ogresko on February 27, 2014, 11:05:16 AM
I am wondering if anyone knew a part number or truck reference for the rubber boot that was later added to the override traction bar to keep moisture, fumes and dust from entering the car. I do have the fiberglass cover and have seen the rubber with the slit also just looking for the one Shelby decided to use. It is also referenced in the Definitive Guide but alas no truck model or part number. Just mentions Ford's Heavy Truck parts bin. I am not building a clone as I am returning my 65 fastback to it's Honey Gold but I do want to have it have similar parts and period correct mods as the GT-350, hi-po heads, T10, Shelby manifold, 715CFM carb, tri y's, arden drop, no corrale, fiberglass hood no stripes, etc.

thanks

John

This part number was listed in the old SAAC Magazine The Marque many years ago.
I believe it was a C7 number. I bought a pair I used in my 65 GT350 for many
years until I decided to go back to original, i.e. Good Year Inner Tube that a friend
was kind enough to give me. However, these worked perfectly but don't look exactly
the same as the originals on the early 66's.
I believe you can find this complete number on the web. Know I did some years ago.

I am now going with the fibreglass covers but the fit is terrible. Will make do with what I have. Does any one know the rough dimensions of the hole in the floor for the bar to  go through.? I looked through my definitive shelby guide and also on line but there is no reference to the hole size. Also appears that the sheet metal for the mounting of the interior side panel needs to be removed. Not sure if this is accurate.

That is an excellent angle. It shows the hole with clear reference landmarks. I will post some pics once they are in.

Thanks for the pic

Steve,

Yes, the P/N is: C7TZ-2A713-C,  Brake Lever Boot.  I have them on my carryover car. They work great, sealing off this area, and
they make it look finished, like a factory installation.

They are obsolete, very hard to find, so if you have a pair, you are lucky.
