What was SA's procedure to blackout the inside of the side scoops on the GT350's?
#455 had been repainted once. I was able to strip the area well enough to get a good idea of how they did it but still want consensus input.

Based on the original paint cars I've seen - yes
Here are a couple (early and late) examples - have more of course ;)

Yes both surfaces the body and the backside of the scoop are typically blacked out. I have seen some others that weren't painted on the back side. The inside scoop looks best when both surfaces are blacked out IMO. It was done off of the car before the scoop was riveted on. It is hard to see in pictures the backside of scoop .

thank you for the info bob. jim

The vast majority I've seen were black on the back side. Sometimes this appears to just be the lack of body color on the back side while on others (more often IMHO ) an attempt for the factory to black them out. Need to be careful looking at examples since it was really common to have owners touch up or reblack out the inside of the scoops at a later date with the scoops attached to the car. The finish on both sets of rivets is the give away/clue.
Some examples - you didn't provide an approx time period or car number so I choose them randomly from through-out the year ;)
Other side of the same car Bob posted a picture of. Carry-over car

Here is picture of what I believe is the same car Bob posted but rotated for a better look at the area. Didn't include these with the car in its picture thread in the Early 66 Shelby - Unrestored Picture Thread since the inside of the scoops had been blacked out by a PO on both sides.

The rivets also have washers on the scoop side of the body. I am not sure if all rivets get the washer or just the rivets on the open side of the scoop.

Practice was typically the front two (one top one bottom) rivets only originally from the originals I've seen and have pictures of
