I have yet to detail clean the undercarriage of this car but the black looks to be from the hump rearward. ..................

When you clean that area - especially at the transition see which one of the coats is on top of the base layer. Guessing it will be black over red oxide color if our conclusion is correct

No good pictures, but I found a list: 212, 1539, 1701 and 3206

Pete. Do you have records of when 1701 and 1707 were completed? Might help confirm that it was not for no reason and instead incidents and failure of equipment or controls

Here is an example though the owner/shop had been heavy handed removing undercoating and other things to get to the final surface

Appears that the red oxide color is below and ends somewhere over the area above the rearend housing then just black. Kind of like expected

Right now I have another car on the lift, so will have to wait till better weather to change things around to get pictures and cleaning.

I am 99% sure that the black is on top of the red oxide. But as before no black on the brake and gas lines.

JS- I will look for build dates, the pictures are consistent with what I have seen
