Fuel Filter Codes
« on: April 25, 2011, 11:39:05 PM »
Can anyone tell me what the 36 -70-D means on this fuel filter. Is it a date code?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, I believe it is a date code . Maybe 36th week of 1970 . The early service filters don't have a date code but are distinguished by a Red Rotunda or Autolite trademark. Bob

This begs the question "are you showing your car as serviced" (over the years) or trying to use assembly line parts as delivered?

I ask as this same issue ESPECIALLY comes up when choosing oil filters !

Thanks Bob, that's what I thought, I've seen the red Autolite without any alphanumeric code at the bottom also.
