Washer Hose Routing
« on: March 13, 2022, 06:26:40 PM »
I am replacing the washer hose on my 1971 BOSS 351 and need some help with the routing.  When exiting the washer fluid reservoir, and following the wiring harness toward the back of the hood, is the washer hose wrapped within the wiring harness, or does it run along the harness outside of the wiring tape? Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

The F in the VIN designates Dearborn.

Not sure if it's something that was a running change or the couple of examples I found with the hose separate, outside the wire loom and routed over the drivers side shock tower were owner modified but on those few examples the wire loom was still wrapped so might be a factory thing just a specific period.

On my 71 not sure how its routed but don't recall seeing a fluid hose incorporated in the wire loom on that side. Will check

The majority of the examples I have pictures of don't have a visible hose routed with the wire loom traveling over the shock tower on the drivers side as shown in the example below. Sorry can be certain. Because of this maybe knowing when your car was completed or the VIN will allow us to at least compare it hopefully to another example I have pictures of

Just a though

Example below 1F02R174xxxx. Very nice original car that I should post pictures of in that section of the site.

Thank you!  It appears from the pictures, because the hose is not visible, that the washer hose might be inside the wire loom as mine is, as it travels up over the shock tower, before exiting near the back side of the shock tower.  Hmm....  Thanks again.

In all of the non-molested 7123 headlight harnesses that I have seen, the washer hose is embedded into the main wiring loom, wrapped in tape, with the ends exposed a few inches from the washer motor and just short of the main break-out of the harness that goes to the various plugs, just short of the firewall grommet.

Interesting. Is there many Ford products with the washer hoes incorporated in the wire loom? More of a 70's thing?

Those are the only ones I've seen, but I do not have access to a lot of other FLM products of the 71 and up years.
