66 Dual Exhaust System Discussion and Factory Drawings
« on: March 07, 2023, 05:35:16 PM »
A Ford drawings on 1966 Mustang dual exhaust systems. This is a continuation of 1965 GT dual exhaust system implemented on 3/22/65, which includes 289 HP Mustangs. This drawings is from "The 289 High Performance Mustang" by Tony Gregory, pg 76. The only differences between a 1965-66 "A" code GT and a 1965-66 "K" code GT are the right hand and left hand manifolds and the "H" pipe. Smog exhaust manifolds and "H" pipes used on 1966 "A" code GT equipped with smog equipment are also different. There was no special "K" code smog exhaust manifolds or "H" pipe for 1966.
A non GT "K" code (all three body styles) will have different exhaust tips (non-trumpet style, identified on the drawing as "Muffler Outlet Pipe - 5255") commonly called "downward style tips" and they will not go thru the rear valence.

I promise to be politically correct in all my posts to keep the BBBB from vociferating.
