I couldn't find best practice anywhere during search. I assume that in order to install a new trunk emblem you have to take off the drivers side trunk hinge and maneuver through that hole?
-
The emblem is not held to the car with a set of nuts from the inside so no reason to remove the trunk lid for mounting

Nothing to take off from the backside because it was installed from the front side. Barrel nuts were used so that the emblem could be pushed on from the outside.A emblem can be carefully pried off without damage. I use one of the flat plastic trim removal tools like you see on ebay for like 10.00 for a set. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Trim-Removal-Tool-Kit-Set-Door-Panel-Fastener-Auto-Dash-Plastic-Interior/372901874846

Emblems can also be removed from barrel nuts using dental floss slipped behind the emblem.

Thanks. I just ordered the trim tool kit Bob recommended.

Harbor Freight also carries these also. If a location is close and you can find or down load a 20% off - timing with a sale is also helpful they can be pretty inexpensive
Just a mention for others considering a purchase
