71-73 Dearborn Buck Tag Placement
« on: January 02, 2019, 12:20:53 PM »
As a member of the 71-73 community online I had posted a question to other members regarding buck tag placement.  General polling responses indicate right side (passenger) of the core support for 71 model years and left side (driver) for 72 & 73 model years.  I had received some feedback at a recent show that all model years should be right side.  I would appreciate feedback from others on this subject.  If you could provide the build date and plant when identifying your buck tag placement it would be very appreciated.

Thank you,

Altered the title to focus on Dearborn cars to help out. We did a buck tag survey maybe a couple of decades ago so I'll try and dig out those findings and offer what we found and what I've got in the next couple of days as a break from other things ;)

To make it a little clearer. By right side are you referring to the drivers or passenger side of the vehicle?

As always Jeff thank you very much.

Right side was intended to mean Passenger side.

Ok looked through my few pictures of 71-73's and its often difficult to see the buck tags as they can be hard to see given the camera angles and other things that get in the way

My finds follow along with the feedback you got from the members of the other site so I guess whomever you talked to at a show was misinformed or had only seen a limited number of examples.

I found that all of the 71 Dearborn cars had them located on the passenger side of the radiator support. In the pictures I have there appears to have been two possible locations but both are within inches of the other but both near the upper edge of the support.

For 72-73 they are located on the drivers side of the radiator support near to top edge. All appear to be in about the same locations
