Power Steering Pump w/o Reservoir
« on: February 13, 2021, 08:53:35 AM »
How difficult is it to exchange the "core" of a 67-70 power steering pump, reusing the original reservoir?

Rebuilt cores are available from several sources.  I do not know how to press the core out without damaging the reservoir.

Tips? Tricks? Perhaps this requires specialized tools?

Thanks!

Don't recall it being very difficult. Shop Manual  should have full instructions of the process

You can use the adjusting lug on the center pump section to twist the pump in the housing if it needs a little help. Holding the can might be a bit of a challenge since you don't want to clamp or dent it

Sure others may have some tips and hints also
