Title: 1969 Dearborn Radio Suppressor Type and Location
Post by: 69GTconvert on January 15, 2018, 10:05:41 AM
Disclaimer: I searched the site for this answer but couldn't find it.  I apologize in advance if this topic has already been covered.

My 1969 Mustang was built in Dearborn on April 8th and I have two questions:

1. I believe my Mustang would have come from the factory with the C6OA-18832-A radio suppressor but should it have the Fomoco script on it or Autolite?

2. Where should my radio suppressor be mounted?

Thanks.

The 69 radio static suppressor is mounted on the regulator. You should get a set of the assemblyline manuals available from any of the larger Mustang parts vendors. one of the manuals in the set is the electrical version which has illustrations of where and how the radio static suppressor is installed. The one that was used in 69 was Autolite marked . FYI a excellent spot on reproduction of the suppressor is available from Virginia Mustang or NPD.

a tip on the hood bonding strap which goes on lip of cowl..........bend in down some so it will not scratch the paint on hood.

Great example showing how Ford wanted it and my pictures showing how they were installed in real lift.

Thanks Brian

Brian,do not be confused between the Shop manuals which have a multitude of more generic information for a variety of Ford models and are invaluable for maintenance and  the assemblyline manuals which are specific to the Mustang and show assembly illustrations how the cars were put together along with the nuts, bolts, screws etc.used to do it.  Both sets are invaluable for any Mustang owner especially those that maintain their own vehilcle and want to make their car more assemblyline correct. It is a common misconception that both terms "shop manual " and  "assemblyline manuals"  are to discribe the same thing. They are 2 different sets of manuals with different information.

It will then not perform as intended, right?  A question: what is expected from a concours perspective?

it is expected to be mounted as intended. If it is bent back so as not to make contact and “ IF” a judge sees that then it is grounds for a deduction. Some may just write a mention others may choose a deduction.

I have only seen the earlier style reproduced. Call up West Coast Cougars .I would bet they had some to sell.
