Perhaps. I actually need to get over and pick up my new lenses today! Sorry 'bout that Funny thing is I had initially marked it as a type 2 then 2nd guessed myself. I needed to ENLARGE the pictures to make out the other details but missed the large view of the sides that clearly shows the fibers. My understanding previously was they all had fibers and that the later production versions were just not as clearly noticeable.I am likely incorrect though on such details.

The type 3 is all black and mostly looks like plastic as it is smooth. The shroud I have here has white fibers all through the shroud. It also has the CAUTION FAN decal  . It , the decal , can easily be removed if needed.
