Generator wiring
« on: August 02, 2012, 01:36:11 PM »
I'm connecting the wires for my rebuilt generator and am a bit confused with where to put the black and yellow wires. There are two black and yellow wires coming out of the repo wire harness from the voltage regulator. From looking at the wiring diagrams, one should go to the back of the generator under the protective rubber cover and the other to the left side of the starter solenoid on the post with the Positive battery cable. Trouble is they look alike.

I think the longer black (thin black stripe) and yellow wire grouped with the other two generator wires is the one for the back of the generator and the shorter black (thicker black stripe) and yellow wire that comes out of the harness separately goes to the starter solenoid. Can anyone please confirm that this is correct? I've attached pictures below.

Also, I replaced the voltage regulator and there is mention of having to polarize the voltage regulator if the generator has been replaced/rebuilt. Is this right?

Thanks,
Chris
